Winter Chautauqua

10:30 a.m. Saturday

Northwestern Oklahoma State University-Enid

The Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro will come to NWOSU-Enid Saturday during Enid’s annual Winter Chautauqua event.

The day will begin at 10:30 a.m. with a workshop, “If Only I Had Been Born an Inca.” That will follow with another workshop at noon, “Peru Today.”

Attendees are invited to bring a sack lunch as they learn.

Evening events will start at 7, beginning with the winner of the local Student Chautauquan competition. After that, Hank Fincken will take to the stage as Pizarro for the main character presentation.

Trappings of the Cherokee Strip

Tuesdays through Sundays in March

Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center

Fine art and custom cowboy gear will be on display through the end of March at Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center for the museum’s Trappings of the Cherokee Strip exhibit.

The exhibit will feature items from a group of Oklahoma artists and craftsmen.

It is open museum hours 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. The museum is located at 507 S. 4th in Enid.

Whiskey Myers Concert

8 p.m. Saturday

Chisholm Trail Expo Center

National Wild Turkey Federation will present a special concert this weekend at Chisholm Trail Expo Center.

Country red dirt band Whiskey Myers will be in concert Saturday at the Expo Center, 111 W. Purdue.

Tickets are $15 for NWTF and NRA members and $20 for the general public. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit NWTF’s Wounded Warrior Program, which helps take wounded soldiers on outings as a way to say thank you.

Doors will open at 7, with the opening act, The Chance Anderson Band, performing at 8. The concert is for all ages.
