‘Hairspray’

Get out to Gaslight Theatre this weekend and experience a musical that celebrates our differences.

“Hairspray,” based on the musical chronicles of Tracy Turnblad, will be performed 8 p.m. today and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Liz Lewis portrays Turnblad, the slightly overweight yet boisterous teen who tries to follow her dream of dancing. Other performers include Reavis Hammond as Turnblad’s love interest, Link, and Dawn Hegwood as Motormouth Maybelle.

The show is directed by Janet Jones wih assistance from Ginny Shipley.

In addition to the showings today through Sunday, there will be more performances July 25-27.

Bushido Arm Wrestling

Expo Center Coliseum


For a little something different from your weekend routine, check out the Bushido Arm Wrestling Tournament and Car Show on Saturday at Chisholm Trail Expo Center Coliseum.

The tournament will feature 120 professional arm wrestlers and 120 amateurs. More than $5,000 in cash and prizes will be given away.

Tiffany Bora, aka The Tipsy Artist, will be at Convention Hall for two performances July 23. The first show will be 2-5 p.m. and is for kids. The second, for adults and featuring a cash bar, is sold out.

Tickets are $35 per person when made online and are at http://www.tipsyartist.com/#/enid/4577218670.

Ticket price includes the use of all paint supplies, instruction, aprons and a 16-by-20-inch take-home canvas. The kids show is titled “Whimsey Tree,” and the adult show is titled “Sailing in Italy.” Recommended earliest age for the kids show is 8.
