Celebrating song at the ballpark

Enid Symphony Orchestra presents “Take Me Out to the Symphony — A Concert for Families” 7 p.m. Saturday at David Allen Memorial Ballpark.

General admission is $5 per person. Baseball park deck seating is limited to 350, so participants can bring a lawn chair or blanket. Tickets are available at the gate or by calling 237-9646.

ESO Music Director Douglas Newell said the event will combine a live remote radio broadcast by KOFM, a “Harry karaoke contest,” an ESO concert, narration of “Casey at the Bat,” a conga line and a ball toss.

“Casey at the Bat” will be narrated by former local radio sports personality Chad McKee. The live radio remote runs from 5-7 p.m. in conjunction with the first ever Harry Karaoke “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” contest. Participants can sing live on the radio and the top three performers will be chosen to sing with the symphony during the concert. Winners will receive a “Harry Award,” Newell said.

A tennis ball toss will give participants a chance to win $100. A conga line, led by a Carmen Miranda look-alike will be formed.

The ballpark menu will include hamburgers, hot dogs, pretzels, peanuts, popcorn, cracker jacks.

Musical selections will include “Star Spangled Banner,” medley from “Chicago,” “New York, New York,” “The Pink Panther,” “Tequila!” “God Bless America,” “Oklahoma,” “Stars and Stripes Forever,” and others.
