— Alicia Clifton, Miss Oklahoma 2012, is a junior at The University of Oklahoma majoring in Broadcast Journalism. She was a member of the OU Pom Squad during her Freshman and Sophomore years. Alicia was Miss University of Oklahoma in 2011 and continues her membership in the Tri Delta Sorority. She is a graduate of Moore High School.

Alicia began dancing at the age of three and by the age of five was already dancing competitively. She is a National and an International dance award winner, winning thousands of awards, some of which include being a two-time Silver Medalist and a Gold Medalist for the USA at the World Dance Championships conducted in Riesa, Germany and Orlando, Florida. She was the first American Dance Idol and after competing against hundreds of dancers from 37 states, eventually was the first place winner of $10,000. She currently holds two dance related Guinness World Records.

Alicia first became involved in the Miss Oklahoma Teen Pageant system at the age of 13 by entering the Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen competition in 2005. She held many titles over the years and after winning Miss Tulsa Outstanding Teen, went on to be crowned Miss Oklahoma’s Outstanding Teen in 2008. Alicia first competed in the Miss Oklahoma Pageant in 2010 where she won awards for Rookie and Overall Talent, Rookie Interview, Rookie of the Year, a finalist for The Kiwanis Community Service award, and was 2nd runner up to Miss Oklahoma, Emoly West. In 2011, Alicia was the Preliminary Talent Winner, the interview winner, a finalist for The Kiwanis Community Service award, and 2nd runner up to Miss Oklahoma, Betty Thompson. In her third year, and being crowned Miss Oklahoma 2012, Alicia again was the recipient of the talent award and took third place in The Kiwanis Community Service award.

After a childhood friend contracted and subsequently lost his battle with Leukemia, Alicia was inspired to help other children who faced debilitating and life-threatening illnesses and has spent many hours at the OU Children’s Hospital comforting them as they await various treatments. She was deeply touched as the children continually demonstrated extraordinary courage and determination in their struggles, and how they faced each day with a positive, upbeat attitude. Additionally, Alicia has spent many volunteer hours working with CMNH, the Jerry Lewis Telethon, the Oklahoma Children’s Cancer Association, and the American Cancer Society just to name a few.

Alicia has been a featured guest on the Regis and Kelly Show, the Megan Mullally show as well as the Ellen Degeneres show. Additionally, she was invited on two separate occasions to be on Guinness TV shows in Rome, Italy and Beijing, China where she set and subsequently broke her own record for the most consecutive fouettes a la seconde’ in 30 seconds. Children are drawn to Alicia wherever she goes, and she proves herself to be a wonderful role model for all ages.

Alicia is the daughter of Ron and Tammy Clifton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
