I read in the paper Oct. 1, 2006, “Free condoms to be distributed on Missouri campus in Columbia, Mo.” But, just because some things are free, or even legal, doesn’t always make it right. Galatians 6:8 says “If we sow to the flesh, we will reap corruption.” And if we sow to the wind of immorality, we will reap the whirl-wind of destruction. But, sometimes even young folks learn lessons the hard way.
The story is told in the second-grade McGuffey reader, “The boys who did mischief for fun.” So, they decided to take some string and tie the tall grass together along the pathway and then hide and laugh when the people would stumble and fall. The first to fall was a small boy, who just got up and looked around, then he brushed himself off a bit and walked on. The next was Sarah, as she walked along with a pail of milk who fell and spilled the milk. One boy said, “I felt sorry for Sarah, she lost all that milk.” But, the other boy said, “It wont’ be entirely lost, the pigs will come along and slurp it up, let’s hide again.” The next was a man who was running, who fell and didn’t get up, so the boys ran over and said, “Oh, sir are you hurt?” And he said, “I think I sprained my ankle. I was trying to get help for a man who is very ill who lives in the big house down the road.” The boys said, “why, that’s our house, that must be our dad!”
Sometimes a boomerang will come back and hit you in the face.
