ENID, Okla. —
Celebration of Life service for Melvena Randel, 79, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Covington United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ruth Atterberry officiating. Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory.
Vene was born Nov. 4, 1933, in Enid, Okla., to Melvin and Viola (Smith) Schwedland. She passed from this life Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013.
She graduated from Enid High School in 1951.
Her career in accounting/finance at Vance Air Force Base began in 1957, and she retired in 1988.
She made many lifelong friends and enjoyed keeping in touch with them. She loved traveling, animals, and watching football — especially her beloved OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys. Her granddaughters were the joy of her life. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend. She will be missed by many.
Vene was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, one nephew and one great-niece.
She is survived by Cindie (Keith) Bolz, Covington, Okla.; Gary (Stacy) Randel, Dallas, Texas; Faye Sarfaty, Fountain Valley, Calif.; Kaye (Roger) Meyer, Altus, Okla.; two granddaughters, Melynda and Rachael Randel, Dallas, Texas; many relatives and friends.
