ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for Edward Eugene Schultz will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Dan Thimell officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, with military honors given by the U.S. Navy.

Edward was born April 10, 1927, the fourth of 10 children, to Ed and Lena (Wiseman) Schultz in Carrier and died Monday, March 10, 2014, in Enid.

He attended school in Pond Creek and Hunter. While still in high school, he enlisted with the Navy and was stationed on Perry Island in the Marshall Islands.

After his discharge in 1946, he finished his senior year of high school. In 1951, he was recalled to active duty and served on the USS Antietam, along the coast of Korea as a gunners mate 3rd class.

On Valentine’s Day 1954, Edward married Mabel “Jerry” Hays at Hunter Christian Church.  Together, they lived and farmed in the Breckinridge area. She preceded him in death in 1992.

On Oct. 22, 1994, he married Ruth Brown at Faith Lutheran Church in Enid.

Edward was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, the Moose Lodge and a life-time member of the VFW and American Legion. He was a Garber school board member and director of the Kremlin Co-op. He enjoyed carpentry and coyote hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jerry; brother, Kenneth Schultz; and sister, Edna Felix.

Edward is survived by wife, Ruth; son, Brent Schultz and wife Brenda; daughter, LuAnn Aebi, all of Enid; four grandchildren, Marissa Schultz, Austin Schultz, Chance Aebi and Chase Aebi; two brothers, Dean Schultz and Jerry Schultz; and five sisters, Doris Kent, Maxine Shaffer, Maryl Dumbauld, Jean West and Carol Schultz.

Memorials can be given through the funeral home to Ross Hospice.
