ENID, Okla. —
Memorial service for Owen Backhaus will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Covington. Pastor Chris Griffith will officiate.
Owen was born in Los Angeles, Calif., on Aug. 8, 1938, to Irven and Mildred (Stam) Backhaus. He passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. He fought cancer for almost two years.
Owen lived in Covington for most of his life, except the years he served in the Army.
Owen worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone and retired after 20 years. His passion was traveling with his family to France.
He is survived by his wife, Josiane, and sons, William, Larry and Donald Backhaus, all of Covington; daughter, Marie, of Tours, France; sister, Donna Eggers of Enid; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Irven and Mildred Backhaus.
