ENID, Okla. —
Jerry Lane Gamster was born Feb. 24, 1939, in Highland, Ill., and died Friday, Oct. 5, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla., after a lengthy battle with leukemia. In 1961, he graduated and worked for several companies, including Field and Stream, as a salesman.
Jerry met and married Ronda Ree Thompson in 1973 after a three-month courtship. As Ronda says, they had “zing.” The two raised their children in Tulsa and then moved to Florida in 1989 so Jerry could start his own business. Jerry and Ronda returned to Tulsa, when Jerry retired in 2004.
Jerry will be remembered as a master craftsman, avid outdoorsman and an accomplished chef. He enthusiastically helped family members with remodeling projects and always arrived at family events with wonderful dishes or meat prepared in the smoker he designed himself. That optimism was an inspiration to his family and friends.
