ENID, Okla. — Memorial service for Jodean Chesnut will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 28, 2013, at Waukomis United Methodist Church. The Rev. Garry Vincent will officiate the service. Burial of the cremains will follow in Waukomis Cemetery.

A family visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. today at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Jodean Chesnut was born Aug. 7, 1923, in Enid, Okla., to Charles Ernest Rapp and Dessie Mae Taylor Rapp and passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Golden Oaks Village.  

Jodean was raised in the Waukomis area.

Jodean married James W. Jay Chesnut April 13, 1943, in Neosho, Mo. They made their home in the Drummond area, moving to Enid in  1972. They have resided at Golden Oaks Village for 17 years.

Jodean was a wife, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and loved by all that met her.

Her family of two children increased to seven grandchildren and their spouses and 17 great-grandchildren.

She worked at SW Bell Telephone as a telephone operator, and with her husband at the Enid Livestock Market on sale days.  

Jodean was a member of Waukomis Oklahoma Eastern Star Chapter 137, Past Grand Ruth in 1987, and a lifetime member of OES. Jodean also was a member of Enid Shrine Club Ladies, Drummond Study Club and Waukomis Methodist Church. She also enjoyed Tuesday morning breakfast at the Ramada and was a volunteer with Bass Hospital.

Survivors include: a son, Tim Chesnut and wife Thelma; daughter, Kathi Chesnut; granddaughter, Bengi Beebe and husband Tim and their children, Jessica, Jacob, Joshua and Jennifer; granddaughter, Torrie Vann and husband Jason and their children, Randa and Briley; granddaughter, Kimi Vesta and husband Chad and their children, Cade and Camden; granddaughter, Tennille Chesnut and Cheyenne Watashe and their daughter, Jaidan, and son Sage; granddaughter, Kati St. John and husband Brandon and their children, Abigail, Brady and Ethan James; grandson, Tony Chesnut and his children, Carter and Callie; granddaughter, Tianne Dent and husband Ryan and their children, Drake and Hailee.

She was preceded in death by Jay, her husband; her parents; two sisters, Lorraine and Ernestine; a brother, Doug; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Waukomis United Methodist Church with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.

    Funeral service for Janice Le Alcorn Carter, 63, of Enid, Okla., will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Johnny Lambert officiating.     She was born July 17, 1950, in El Reno, Okla., to Alfred L. and Grace C. (Whitaker) Acree and passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014, in Enid.
    She moved to Enid with her family and attended Enid schools. She worked in home health care and was a cancer survivor.

    Ruth was born Sept. 11, 1931, in Le Sueur County, Minn., and passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Golden Oaks Retirement Community, with her husband Jack at her side.  
    Ruth married John “Jack” Weston on Aug. 26, 1976.
    They resided in Falls Church, Va., and then Lake Pomme de Terre, Mo. The couple moved to Enid in November 2009, where Rev. Weston had graduated from Phillips University in 1955. They were both active members of Central Christian Church.

    Funeral for Donald “Don” Arthur Black will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at Enid Maine Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. Thomas J. Pullin will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Byron-Amorita Cemetery under the kind guidance of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service. Visitation with family will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Stittsworth Funeral Service.
    Donald Arthur Black, son of Arthur and Sylvia Venn Black, was born Sept. 4, 1933, in Jet, Okla., and passed away Monday, April 21, 2014, in Enid, at the age of 80 years. He suffered from a long illness of Parkinson’s disease and heart disease.
    Don graduated from Jet High School with the class of 1952, and married the love of his life, Muriel Uldine Puffinbarger, on May 20, 1953. They would have celebrated 61 years of marriage this May.
    Upon moving to Enid to raise their family, Don worked primarily in the insurance and real estate business as proprietor of the Black Agency. Don was a realtor for over 50 years and served at the local, state and national level.

  • Barbara Geis

    Barbara Sunthimer Geis was born Sept. 25, 1932, in Van Nuys, Calif., and passed away Monday, April 21, 2014, in Okeene, Okla., at the age of 81.  
    At the age of 9, she went to live with her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Enos Haworth. The family moved to Okeene, Okla., in 1941. Barbara attended Okeene schools throughout her life.
    She married her high school sweetheart, Oral Fuller, in 1949. They were married for eight years and had two sons, Alan and Mark.
    After Oral passed away suddenly in 1957, she renewed her friendship with Gene Baker. They were married in 1959 and had two daughters, Kim and Karen. Gene and Barbara were married for 42 years. Gene passed away after a lengthy illness in 2002.

    He was born in Enid, Okla., on July 11, 1933, to Floyd and Flora Dunn.
    He was married to his loving wife of 62 years, Lily Dunn.
    He retired from Texas Electric after 35 years of faithful service.

    She was raised in Concord, Calif., and moved to Pond Creek with her son Delaire in 1976. She remained in Pond Creek, raising all three of her children here. She also worked for StarTek in Enid. She was family-oriented, and her best memories were spent with her children and grandchildren.
    Deborah was a great friend to all and will be loved and missed by so many.

    Wayne was born Dec. 21, 1939, in Cordell, Okla., the son of Chauncey Elbert and Mona Jessie Myrtle Kight McAbee and passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2014, in Enid, Okla.
    He was raised in Blackwell, but lived in various cities in Oklahoma, California, as well as Colorado.
    He loved working with wood, making full-sized as well as minature furniture.
