ENID, Okla. —
Graveside service for Merle Lavern Casteel, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013, in Covington Cemetery, with Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Visitation with family will be 6-7 p.m. today at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
Merle was born to Ralph Jay and Etta Mae (Miller) Casteel on Jan. 13, 1929, in Marshall, Okla., and passed away Sunday, March 24, 2013, in Enid, Okla.
Merle graduated from Covington High School in 1948, and served in the United States Army.
On Sept. 6, 1953, he married Gay Branen in Pleasant Hill, south of Covington.
Merle was an electrician, working for OG&E for 31 years.
He is survived by his wife, Gay of the home; daughter, Cindy Blair and husband Howard of Enid; two grandchildren, Tricia Wedman and husband Scott of Maple City, Kan., and Lacey King and husband Kenny of Enid; four great-grandchildren, Hallie, Tyler, Hudson and Tucker; and two brothers, Melvin Casteel and Jim Casteel.
Merle was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Etta Casteel, and brothers Ralph, Earl and Bob Casteel.
