ENID, OK —
Funeral service for Jimmy “Slim” Mathis, 76, Enid, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at First Baptist Church, Kingfisher, where Jimmy was an ordained deacon, with Pastor Rickey Jacobs officiating. Service is under the kind guidance of Stittsworth Funeral Service.
Jimmy was born Feb. 25, 1937, east of Dover, Okla., the son of Carl and Hattie Buford Mathis and passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 18, 2013, in Enid.
Jimmy attended Booker T. Washington School, east of dover, until his family moved to Kingfisher, where he attended Ed Douglas High School.
He was a farmer and pipeline worker, and he moved to Enid in 1973, where he worked as a truck driver for the city of Enid in the sanitation department.
Survivors include brother Charlie G. Mathis of Enid, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Highland Manor Staff for their dignified care of Jimmy.
