ENID, Okla. —
Funeral service for Norman H. Garrison, 86, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013, at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain Gary Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
He was born March 8, 1927, in Blair, Okla., to the late Hubert and Elizabeth Garrison and passed away peacefully Monday, July 15, 2013, at home, with his family surrounding him with love.
He lived a happy life on the farm with four brothers and one sister, before marrying Joyce Laverne Quillin on July 10, 1947, in Altus, Okla.
Norman worked at Tim’s Funeral Home in Altus, and as a police officer in Lawton before moving to Enid and spending many years at Tydings Wholesale and Larry’s Amusement. He also drove an ambulance for Enid Speedway.
Norman retired in 1994, and spent the rest of his life restoring antique cars and purusing his love of Corvettes. His knowledge of automobiles was always shared in helping his family and friends when needed.
Norman is survived by one brother, Alvin Garrison of Oklahoma City; daughter, Connie Williams of Norman; sons, Ron and Mark Garrison, both of Enid; seven grandchildren, Shawn, Kole, Mark, Tana, Lanai, Aaron and Cory; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Laverne Garrison; son-in-law, Kenneth Williams in 2010; brothers, Leon, Clarence and Doyce; and sister, Edith.
A very special thank you to his care giver, Carla; The Arbors Assisted Living Center; and Circle of Love Hospice.
Memorials may be given to Hospice Circle of Love, with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.
