Raymond A. Wilcox

The funeral for Raymond A. Wilcox, 90, of Fairview, will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at Fairview Funeral Home Chapel. Dan O’Daniel will officiate. Burial will be in Roscoe Cemetery with military honors by American Legion. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and before the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

He was born March 23, 1919, in Fairview to Clarence and Lillie Wilcox and died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at Fairview Fellowship Home.

He graduated from Fairview High School and attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University for a year. He served in the Army from 1942 to 1945 with the 830th Engineeer Aviation Battalion. He married Marian L. Kurtz July 12, 1945, in Paris.

They lived in Fairview before moving to Illinois and then Michigan. He farmed in Oklahoma at various times, settling in the state in 1959. He was the founder of Seiling Grain Elevator, now Wheeler Brothers Grain Elevator. He continued farming and ranching and later turned to the oil and gas industry. He was a landman for many years, operating as Roadrunner Enterprises. He was a founding member of the board of National Association of Royalty Owners and was a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served in the Army Reserve for 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, Marian, of Fairview; three daughters, Nancy Brown of Boynton Beach, Fla., Suzanne Scott of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Judith Knight of Montrose, Colo.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Roscoe Cemetery or Orion Volunteer Fire Association.
