ENID, Okla. — John Joseph “Red” Simons was born to Walter and Cecelia Conrady Simons on July 30, 1939, and died Sunday, June 23, 2013, in Tulsa.   

John donated his body to OU Medical Research. Burial will be in Caldwell, Kan., cemetery upon the return of his cremains.

He was raised on a farm northeast of Wakita, Okla., and graduated in 1957. His college majors were english and accounting.   

John married Kathy Kretchmar, and learned carpentry from his father-in-law while living in Medford, Okla.

He enjoyed his friends, NASCAR races, country music and reading.  

John appreciated the care he received at Leisure Village and Rivercross Hospice in Tulsa.

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Dean and Rosalie Terrill of Aline Okla.

His parents and brother, Gene Simons, preceded him in death.

Memorials may be made to OU Medical Research or a charity of choice.
