ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for Gene T. Morahan, 84, of Enid, Okla., will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014, at Central Christian Church in Enid. The Rev. John McLemore, Rev. Don Johnson and Brian Meyer will officiate. A graveside service will be 3 p.m. in Resthaven Sunset Memorial Park, Ponca City, Okla., following the funeral. The Revs. Larry B. Metzger and E. Roberta Shaffer will preside. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, Enid.

Gene was born July 5, 1929, in Enid, Okla., to Lawrence and Mildred Morahan and passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014, at The Commons Nursing Home in Enid.

He graduated from Enid High School in 1947.

After serving two years in the United States Air Force, he returned home to help take care of his mother.

He spent a short time attending Phillips University and then began a long career in banking, starting as a teller at Central National Bank. Gene went to work for the FDIC as a bank examiner and then in 1957, accepted a job in Ponca City at First National Bank. He went on to own banks in Shidler, Braman and Kaw City. He then acquired Security National Bank in Ponca City.

Gene met his wife, Patricia C. Peak, in Enid. They were married April 10, 1954, and recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Gene was very involved in his communities of Ponca City and Enid. He served as treasurer of many organizations including Jaycees and Kiwanis. He also volunteered on many boards and was recently named 2014 Philanthropist of the Year by Integris Hospital.

Gene enjoyed life and was always willing to help others. He did expect his family to work hard and reap the rewards of doing so. He had many hobbies and loved working in his gardens. Gene was a longtime season ticket holder and supporter of OSU sports and enjoyed going to watch the Cowboys play on Saturdays with his family.

Gene is survived by his wife, Patricia of Ponca City; three daughters, Gail Novak and husband Pat of Enid, Becky Morahan of Ponca City and Julie Sheffield and husband Todd of Ponca City. He also is survived by 12 grandkids and nine great-grandkids: Eric Reed, wife Kelly and daughter Blythe of Rowlett, Texas; Melanie Secrest, husband Justin, and children Jaxton and Jordy of Stillwater; Chad Novak and wife Kendall of Edmond; Cari Novak and children Riley and Cassie of Edmond; Jeremy Webb, wife Ashley and sons Britten and Cole of Ponca City; Jennifer Hobbs, husband Mark and sons Carter and Breckin of Ponca City; Joel Webb of Ponca City; Michael Kirchenbauer of Enid; Haley Kirchenbauer of Ponca City; Hannah Kirchenbauer of Ponca City; Luke Kirchenbauer of Ponca City; Jackson Sheffield of Ponca City; and many other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jane Briggs; and one brother, Loyal Morahan.

Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church of Enid and First Christian Church of Ponca City, with Anderson-Burris serving as custodian of funds.

    Robert E. Chester, 88, peacefully passed away with his wife, Roma, holding his hand and surrounded by his children and their spouses on June 30, 2014. He died following a short illness stemming from congestive heart failure at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, N.C.
    A memorial service officiated by the Rev. Lesly Broadbent will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Willow View United Methodist Church, 3525 W. Purdue Ave., in Enid.
    Besides his children, Lance Chester and daughter-in-law, Susan of New Mexico, daughter, Lana and son-in-law, Steve Hendershott of North Carolina, he also is survived by his sister, Carolyn Summers of Tucson. He is survived by two nieces, Karen, married to Ken Tyra of Arizona, and Tarica Barker, residing in Illinois with husband, Ron. His grandson, Travis Hendershott and wife, Emily live in Virginia.
    Robert entered this life on Jan. 27, 1926, in Enid, Okla., the son of Boyd A. and Lucile Williams Chester.
    Although Robert had lived in Hendersonville, N.C., for the past two years, he still considered Enid his home because of deep roots and ties to the community.
    At the age of 17 he accepted Christ as his Savior in the Methodist faith.

    Funeral service for Deanna Marcella (Graybill) Barney, 73-year-old Weatherford, Okla., resident, will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lynn Brack officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Brumfield Cemetery in Seiling, Okla., under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home, Weatherford.
    Deanna was born Sept. 4, 1940, in Hammon, Okla., to Dale Boone and Naomi “Toots” (Albright) Graybill and passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Weatherford Regional Hospital.
    Deanna was raised on the family farm in Leedey, Okla., where she attended Leedey Public Schools and graduated in 1958. She attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford and graduated with degrees in both business and mathematics.
    Deanna began her teaching career at Seiling Public Schools in 1961.

    Loren was born in Lovell on April 28, 1930, to Jack and Velma Sample Pollard and died Monday July 21, 2014, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid.
    He was a member of Marshall Masonic Lodge, Kingfisher County Cattlemen’s Association, and was on the board of directors of Kingfisher Bank and Trust.

    Our dear wife, mother and grandmother left us on Monday, July 21, 2014. Evelyn was the last of her family of John A. and Mary C. Fuxa.
    Also preceding her was Ernest who died in World war II, Henry, Virgil, Benny and Louise Conrady.
    She is survived by her loving husband, R.A. “Skeeter” and children, Linda and husband Randy Fuller of Enid and son, Dennis Traynor of Waukomis and friend Cindy Zaloudek of Tulsa. Evelyn’s grandchildren of whom she was so proud are Justin and Lauren Traynor of Yukon, Okla., Dr. Megan Traynor of Rochester, Minn., Allison Traynor RN and fiancee’ Cody Daniels of Edmond, Okla., and Stephen Fuller of Oklahoma City.
    Evelyn was born Aug. 11, 1931, in Bison, Okla., and graduated from Wakoumis in 1947. She was basketball homecoming queen, played sports and helped work the family farm.

    Funeral for Gerald E. Murray, 75-year-old Enid resident, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Vernon Lee will officiate. Burial will follow at Enid Cemetery.
    Gerald was born Sept. 12, 1938, in Enid, Okla., to Lee and Jesse (Campbell) Murray and died Monday, July 21, 2014, at his home in Enid.
    At age 16, Gerald started working for the Frisco Railroad, which later became Burlington Northern. He served in many capacities with the railroad, retiring after 38 years of service.
    He served in the National Guard.
    On Aug. 24, 1959, he married Lois Colvard in Aurora, Mo. The couple made their home in Enid, where he attended Gospel Light Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman, liked playing card games and listening to music. But he mostly enjoyed spending time with his family.
