Marion Alfred Taber

ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for Marion Alfred Taber, 79, of Kiowa, Kan., will be 9 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013, at Congregational United Church of Christ. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kan. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Kiowa, Kan. Viewing will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2013. Marion was born Aug. 15, 1933, in Cherry Vale, Kan., to William Daniel Taber and Ellen Jewett Taber.

He graduated from high school in Independence, Kan.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.

After he returned from serving his country, he and Donna Rowden were married on Dec. 24, 1958, in Independence, Kan.

He first went to junior college in Independence, and from there he went to the University of Houston for a semester, then obtained a B.S. in education in 1959, from Kansas State University. He earned his master’s in guidance from Kansas State University the following year.

Marion taught science in Golden City for a year, then went to Sarcoxie High School as a counselor.

In 1966, he began working as an employment counselor with the Missouri Employment Security Division. In March 1967, he got the job he wanted as a counselor with Missouri Vocational-Rehabilitation. He came to Kiowa in 1982, and taught in the science field until his retirement.

He had lived at Greenbrier Care Center in Enid for several years due to health reasons.

While working in Missouri, he was the national recipient of the John E. Fogarty Public Personnel Award, which was presented by the President’s Committee on Employment of Handicapped.  He had also won the Elkins Award for distinguished service, which was presented by the Great Plains Region.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Art, Martin and Leonard; and two sisters, Elene and Thelma.

Marion is survived by his wife, Donna Taber; children, Debra Harlan and husband Richard, Gena Fitzpatrick and husband Kevin, and William Taber and wife Cheryl; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Robert and Karla Dooly and their children, Kole, Konner, Cayley and River Dooly, Tyler and Rebecka Dooly and Tyler’s children, Audrey Costello and Hunter Dooly, Zachary Jones and Carry Goodson and their son, Cole Jones, Rhett Jones, Justin Taber and Jacob Taber.

Memorials may be made to Monty Thompson Continuing Education Fund, Kiowa Lions Club, Congregational United Church of Kiowa, Cancer Society and given to the funeral home at P.O. Box 42, Kiowa, KS 67070.

    Funeral service for Deanna Marcella (Graybill) Barney, 73-year-old Weatherford, Okla., resident, will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev.     Deanna was born Sept. 4, 1940, in Hammon, Okla., to Dale Boone and Naomi “Toots” (Albright) Graybill and passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Weatherford Regional Hospital.
    Deanna was raised on the family farm in Leedey, Okla., where she attended Leedey Public Schools and graduated in 1958. She attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford and graduated with degrees in both business and mathematics.
    Deanna began her teaching career at Seiling Public Schools in 1961.

    Loren was born in Lovell on April 28, 1930, to Jack and Velma Sample Pollard and died Monday July 21, 2014, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid.
    He was a member of Marshall Masonic Lodge, Kingfisher County Cattlemen’s Association, and was on the board of directors of Kingfisher Bank and Trust.

    Mass of Christian burial for Evelyn Marie Fuxa Traynor, 82-year-old Enid resident, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Rev. Rajesh Mankena will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
    Our dear wife, mother and grandmother left us on Monday, July 21, 2014. Evelyn was the last of her family of John A. and Mary C. Fuxa.
    Also preceding her was Ernest who died in World war II, Henry, Virgil, Benny and Louise Conrady.
    She is survived by her loving husband, R.A. “Skeeter” and children, Linda and husband Randy Fuller of Enid and son, Dennis Traynor of Waukomis and friend Cindy Zaloudek of Tulsa. Evelyn’s grandchildren of whom she was so proud are Justin and Lauren Traynor of Yukon, Okla., Dr. Megan Traynor of Rochester, Minn., Allison Traynor RN and fiancee’ Cody Daniels of Edmond, Okla., and Stephen Fuller of Oklahoma City.
    Evelyn was born Aug. 11, 1931, in Bison, Okla., and graduated from Wakoumis in 1947. She was basketball homecoming queen, played sports and helped work the family farm.

  • Gerald E. Murray

    Funeral for Gerald E. Murray, 75-year-old Enid resident, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Vernon Lee will officiate. Burial will follow at Enid Cemetery.
    Gerald was born Sept. 12, 1938, in Enid, Okla., to Lee and Jesse (Campbell) Murray and died Monday, July 21, 2014, at his home in Enid.
    At age 16, Gerald started working for the Frisco Railroad, which later became Burlington Northern. He served in many capacities with the railroad, retiring after 38 years of service.
    He served in the National Guard.
    On Aug. 24, 1959, he married Lois Colvard in Aurora, Mo. The couple made their home in Enid, where he attended Gospel Light Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman, liked playing card games and listening to music. But he mostly enjoyed spending time with his family.

    Funeral service for Duglas Earl Roach, 68, of Dacoma, will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva, followed by a private interment.
    Duglas Earl of Dacoma, Okla., was born to Vynone (Pullan) and Floyd Roach on August 8, 1945 in Alva, Okla. He passed away on July 19, 2014, in Oklahoma City at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 11 days.
    Duglas attended The Alva School System until he joined the Army on Sept. 11, 1962, later receiving his GED while with USAR Control GP (Reinforcement) USA Admin Center St. Louis, Mo., and Btry A 4th Msl Bn (MH) 7th Arty Bergstrom AFB Texas ARADCOM and was discharged on Sept. 30, 1965.
    On July 3, 1992, he was married to Clara Mathews in Globe, Ariz.
