ENID, Okla. —
Funeral for Lucille Hammer, 99-year-old Enid resident, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Wayne Bland will officiate. Burial will follow in Ames Cemetery.
Lucille was born Nov. 2, 1914, in Lacey, Okla., to Ira and Alice Choate and died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013, at Greenbrier Nursing Home.
She graduated from Ringwood High School.
On April 18, 1931, she married Harvey Hammer in Oklahoma City. The couple established their home in Ames.
They celebrated their Golden wedding anniversary April 18, 1981.
In addition to being a homemaker, she worked for Holston Grocery in Ames and then Okeene Drug Store. She later owned and operated Ames Grocery.
She is survived by son, Jack Hammer, and wife Teresa of Enid; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harvey; sons, Bob and Benjamin; and was the last surviving sibling of 15 brothers and sisters.
