ENID, Okla. —
A Celebration of Life service for Michael J. Hartling, 64, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Enid Mennonite Brethren Church, with Revs. Jay Risner and Lynford Becker officiating. Mike’s request was to be cremated. Burial will follow at a later date.
Mike was born Nov. 22, 1948, in Enid to Harold and Marjorie Livingston Hartling and passed away Monday, April 8, 2013, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center after a period of ill health.
Mike grew up in Enid, where he attended and graduated from Enid High School in 1966.
He enlisted in the Army National Guard and served three months, until he was honorably discharged due to his allergic reaction to wool.
He started working for George E. Failing in December 1966, and worked as an assemblyman retiring in 2007, after 41 years.
On July 3, 1970, he married Norma Buller at Enid Mennonite Brethren Church.
Mike was an active member of Enid Mennonite Brethren Church, where he helped start the AWANA program and worked with the Jr. High Youth Program.
Mike is survived by his wife, Norma of the home; son, Michael Hartling and wife Amy of Enid; daughter, Kim Hartling of Shawnee; grandchildren, Evelyn Grace, Madelyn Lillian and Jackson Ryan Hartling; mother, Marjorie Hartling; brothers, Dick and Anita Hartling, Gary Hartling, and Jack Hartling, all of Enid; and several other family members.
Memorials may be made to Enid Mennonite Brethren Church with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
