HENNESSEY, OK —  Funeral for Esther F. White, 96, will be 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at First Christian Church, officiated by Rev. Mickey Moery. Burial will follow in Cimarron Valley Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Esther was born on her farm west of Lacey on Jan. 15, 1917, to Charles and Maggie Sturgeon Stricklin and died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, in Centennial, Colo.

She attended Lacey Public School until her parents moved to Colorado in 1931.

She returned to Lacey in 1933, following the death of her father, where she graduated from Lacey High School.

Esther married Granville “Haudy” R. White in Lacey on June 18, 1939.

Esther lived a good and stable life on her farm being a housewife, mother and a beauty operator later in life.

She was a member of the Lacey Home Demonstration Club, the Lacey Pitch Club and First Christian Church of Hennessey.

She is survived by two sons, Fred White and wife Wanda of Garber, and George White and wife Donna of Enid; daughter, Jan White of Centennial, Colo.; five grandchildren, Fred White Jr. and wife Marina of Denver, Colo., Katie Aaron and husband Jason and Adam White, all of Napa, Calif., Lacy Kolich and husband Jim of Kansas City, Kan., and Kyle White of Enid; and two great-grandchildren.

Following the death of her husband, Haudy, in 1999, she devoted fulltime to the farm and raising cattle, a few horses and donkeys. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to Cimarron Valley Cemetery, with the funeral home serving as custodian of the funds.
