ENID, OK — Funeral service for Dennis R. Smith, 87, of Enid, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Pat Sutherlin of Enid Christian Church of the Covenant will officiate. He will be escorted to the cemetery by the Patriot Guard. Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by Masonic lodge 125. Full military graveside rites will be conducted by the US Vance Air Force Base Silver Talon Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

He was born on his family farm June 10, 1926, to Fred Harbour and Ina Viola Ryburn Smith in Meridian, Okla., and passed from this life Monday, Sept. 23, 2013.

He was raised and educated in Meridian, graduating from Meridian High.

He enlisted in the US Army and served until honorably discharged at the end of World War II. He returned to Meridian, working his family farm for a brief time before enlisting in the US Air Force.

He married Elizabeth Tingler on Nov. 25, 1955, in Enid. He attended Christian Church of the Covenant.

He retired from the US Air Force in 1971, after over 20 years of honorable service to his country. He then worked as a superintendent at Champlin Refinery retiring after 15 years in 1988.

He, along with his wife, were charter members of First Seniors AMBUCS. He was a member of Kiwanis, Delta Theta Guys and a Life Member Mason and a member of the Pond Creek 125 and Kremlin 383, Luftbruecke Lodge 838 in Wiesbaden, Germany. He was a volunteer at Bass Hospital and installed the life line systems for them.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of the home; daughter, Dona Kenly and husband Christopher; son, Kenneth Smith and wife Ann and their daughters, Gillian and Kathryn; son, Raymond Smith; and sister, Maggie Grace Fitch.

He was preceded by his parents; three brothers, Harold, Ralph and Fred; and one sister, Mariola Hunt.

Memorials in his name may be made in lieu of flowers to Oklahoma Medical Research, Alzheimer’s division, with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.

    Frances “Sis” was born April 29, 1925, to Bruce and Nellie Fauchier Jones in Brownville, Texas, and passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014.
    She grew up in the Harmony community, southwest of Hennessey and attended Victory and Hennessey schools.
    Frances was a member of Harmony Church.

    H. Kenneth “Kenny” Miller, 92, of Welda, Kan., formerly of Garfield County, Okla., died Friday, July 18, 2014.
    Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church in Aliceville, Kan.
    He was born in Garfield County and married Norma Fay Wyman in 1941, in Douglas. They farmed in Covington until 1946. She died in 1989.
    Survivors include a sister, Mary Lou Beopple of Garfield County.

    Rick graduated from Fairview High School as Valedictorian in 1974. After graduation, he attended Oklahoma State University, graduating with honors. Rick was on the honor roll every year he attended OSU. While attending school at OSU, he was involved with the initial planning stages of the Glass Mountain State Park, northwest of Fairview.  He traveled to London, England, often, where he loved to spend time and loved anything to do with plants, gardening and flowers.
