ENID, Okla. —
Graveside service for Richard Dale Tate, 83, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013, in Driftwood Cemetery, with Brother Tom Cooksey officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Goodwin Funeral Home, Cherokee. Viewing will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Richard was born Jan. 16, 1930, on the family farm near Driftwood, Okla., the fourth of seven children to George W. and Irene Wilcox Tate and passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013, in Enid.
He attended school in Driftwood. The family moved to Cherokee in 1941.
He joined the Marine Corps at a young age and served his country during the Korean War.
After his discharge from the Marines, he lived in Wichita, Kan., and worked for a plumbing company.
When he retired he moved to Enid, where he attended Central Assembly of God.
Surviving are a son, Randy Tate of Wichita, and a sister, Janet Ruth Tate Rieger of Enid.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Max Tate, James E. Tate and Earl Allen Tate, and two sisters, Dorothy Tate Downing and Mary Ann Tate Meyer.
