ENID — Funeral service for Velma Mae Karr, 84, will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2013, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jarrod Cloud officiating. Burial will follow in Waukomis Cemetery.

Velma was born Nov. 22, 1928, the daughter of William B. and Virginia M. (Garrett) Sanders in Bryant, Okla.

She attended grade school and high school in this small community.

On Dec. 18, 1944, she married Tine Woodrow Karr. Being a military wife, they made their home in Albuquerque, N.M., and were lucky not to have traveled or moved too many times. They were stationed in the Philippine Islands from 1956 to 1958, when the death of her father brought them home. After returning home, they were stationed in Alamogordo, N.M., where her husband retired.

In 1964 they moved to Waukomis, where her husband worked for Vance. She attended First Assembly of God Church.

Velma enjoyed league bowling, attending many tournaments; golfing in the summer; and watching her grandchildren grow.

After the passing of her husband, she worked briefly for Enid State School as a nurse aide. In her later years, she loved music and singing the old songs of her day.

Velma is survived by her daughter, JoAnn Hromas and husband James of Waukomis; two sons, Jack Karr and wife Vicki of Frisco, Texas, and John Karr and wife Lynda of Altus; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and brother.

Memorials may be made to First Assembly of God, Peru Missions.
