ENID, Okla. —
Sherlene T. Carruth, 77, passed from this life to her eternal home on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014.
Sherlene was an eloquent woman, full of grace, beauty, wisdom and love. An organist and pianist, she often shared her musical talents with those around her.
She was born in Oklahoma, but made her home in Baton Rouge, La., for decades.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Vera Taylor of Waukomis, Okla.
She is survived by her son, Keith Carruth (Holly); her daughter, Kelli (John) Miller; sister, Beverly Dahlke; brother, Larry Taylor; five grandchildren, Michael, Gray, Mykaela, Micah and Sherilyn; many nieces and nephews; and a host of special friends.
Sherlene worked for the Postal Inspection Service, as well as Whitney Bank in Baton Rouge, before her retirement. She was a charter member of the Chapel on Campus, where she served in numerous leadership roles.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014, at Bill Merritt Funeral Home, Oklahoma City. Interment is 1 p.m. in Waukomis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sherlene T. Carruth Memorial Fund for Music Education of the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra, www.brso.org.
A memorial service will be held in March at the Chapel on the Campus (LSU). Details to be announced shortly.
