RUTLAND, VERMONT —
Lelia Mae Mayer, 88, of Rutland, Vermont, died Saturday evening, Dec. 21, 2013, in Rutland.
She was born Dec. 3, 1925, in Hillsdale, Okla., the daughter of Jesse and Nora (Crouse) Easterly.
Ms. Mayer grew up in Hayward, Okla., where she graduated from high school in 1944. Following graduation, she attended business college.
She was employed by Southwestern Bell for 36 years, retiring in 1977.
Ms. Mayer was a longtime resident of Enid prior to relocating to Vermont in 2003, to be closer to her son.
She was a member of United Methodist Church of Rutland.
Ms. Mayer enjoyed collecting and restoring antiques.
She was a longtime volunteer at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include her son, Michael Mayer of Rutland, Vermont; six stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by five brothers, Everett Easterly, Jack Easterly, Merlin Easterly, Leonard Easterly and Floran Easterly.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial services were held Dec. 26, 2013, at Aldous Funeral Home, 44 North Main Street, Rutland. Burial will be at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, Rutland, Vermont.
