ENID, Okla. —
Funeral service for Edward Sutter, 92, of Enid, Okla., will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at New Hope United Methodist Church, with Dr. Sheila Combs-Francis officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
Ed was born June 13, 1921, west of Orienta to Edward and Mabel (Shelton) Sutter and passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, in Enid.
Ed graduated from Fairview High School. He went to Alva and took primary flying. Then he attended Oklahoma A&M and continued his studies in advanced flying.
Ed was called to active duty and stationed at Altus Air Base, later graduating as a second lieutenant and completed his training for flying B-26s at Lake Charles, La. He was eventually stationed in Dijon, France, and flew 34 missions over Germany.
After the war he returned to Cheyenne Valley, where he farmed and ranched.
He married Helen Louise Vore in 1946.
Later, Ed moved to Enid and married Lois Jean Brown in 1979.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Briggs Evening Lions.
Ed is survived by his children, Eddie Sutter and wife Teresa of Alva, Phillip Sutter and wife Jane of Enid, and Sonna McKee and husband Alan of California; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Ellen Rathjen of Enid.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his two wives; and three sisters, Oren Jester, Violet Jordan, and Ethel Jordan.
Memorials are to New Hope United Methodist Church.
