Justin Christopher Bedwell was born Jan. 22, 1991, to Jeff and Diane (Rexwinkle) Bedwell in Miami, Okla., and passed from this life suddenly after a tragic automobile accident on Oct. 5, 2012.
Justin began influencing his many friends while attending grade school in Okeene, Okla. At age 11, his family moved to Isabella, Okla., where Justin started school in Fairview, Okla., at Chamberlain Middle School. He graduated from Fairview High School with the class of 2009. Justin was a very active 4-H’er in both Blaine and Major counties, where he learned to appreciate bug collecting, arts and crafts and citizenship projects. Justin became a very active member of the Fairview FFA Chapter, where he served as an officer and received many honors and recognitions for his hard work. He was a recipient of the WLC trip to Washington, D.C., in addition to being recognized in his local chapter for his project work with cattle and horticulture. Among his achievements in FFA, he received both the State FFA Degree of the Oklahoma FFA Association and the American Farmer Degree from the National FFA Organization. He was recognized three times at the Oklahoma State FFA Convention for his work in horticulture and floriculture as a state proficiency winner in these categories. As a result, Justin also was named a top five proficiency finalist in horticulture, and for this was recognized at the national FFA convention as such. Justin was awarded and participated in an educational trip to Costa Rica in recognition for being a national proficiency finalist. While in FFA, Justin was a breeder and exhibitor of shorthorn cattle. He was often successful, as he participated in cattle shows at the local, county, state and national levels, making many friends along the way. Justin was a member of the Oklahoma Junior Shorthorn Association and the National Junior Shorthorn Association in addition to the Oklahoma Junior Cattlemen’s Association.
Following high school, Justin attended Conners State College and participated in livestock judging as a member of the freshman team in 2009-10. After some deliberation, he chose to enter the work force and enjoyed an opportunity to work for the Foster family in Michigan, where he met new friends and livied among the “tall trees.” Following this experience, he began employment with Farmers Elevator Company in Ames, Okla., and just recently began working for Great Plains Co-op in Lahoma as an agronomist and fertilizer rig operator.
Justin is survived by his parents, Jeff and Diane Bedwell; one brother, Jared Bedwell; and one sister Jennifer Bedwell, all of Fairview.
