Graveside service for Wanda C. Cook, 78, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. Don Tines officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday, before going to the cemetery.
Wanda was born in Shattuck, Okla., on Oct. 23, 1934, to Lawrence “Pat” and Violet Brown Brawner and passed away Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Greenbrier Village.
Wanda attended school in Woodward, Curtis, and Mooreland, and graduated from Mooreland High School in 1952.
She married Delbert L. Cook Feb. 28, 1952. They moved to Enid in 1959.
Wanda worked at Montgomery Ward in downtown Enid for several years. She then worked at Champlin Petroleum Co. for 15 years and Garfield County Assessor’s office for 15 years, where she was in charge of mobile homes. She retired from the assessor’s office in 1996.
Wanda volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital for 10 years after Delbert passed away.
Wanda loved to watch humming birds and feed them regularly every summer.
Wanda is survived by her sisters, Carolyn Morris of Enid, and Barbara Argo of Kingston, Wash.; brother-in-law, Robert Cook and wife Verdea of Bartlesville, Okla.; seven nieces and nephews, Kathy (Vernon) Guthrie, Vicky (Roger) Flaming, Connie (Randy) Franklin, Teri (Rick) Marshall, Mariann (Joe) Vargus, Jeff (Velma) Klopp and Bill Cook; 16 great and great-grandnieces and nephews.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Delbert in 2001; brothers-in-law, Darrell Morris and Bob Argo; niece, Dreama Cook; and nephew, Ricky Klopp.
Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
