ENID, Okla. — Funeral for Elwin “E.L.” Lee Baker, 94, will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2013, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Dan O’Daniel officiating. Burial will be in Waukomis Cemetery.  

E.L. was born to Harry and Amanda (Ott) Baker on April 1, 1919, in Waukomis, and passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013, in Enid.

E.L. grew up in Waukomis and graduated from Waukomis High School.

On July 22, 1939, he married Dorotha Johnson in Waukomis. They made their home on a farm north of Covington. They lived there for five years before moving to a farm east of Garber. They raised cattle and operated a dairy for many years, and also raised racing quarter horses.

E.L. was a longtime member of AQHA and was racing secretary of Garfield Downs in Enid for many years.

He was a member of Chisholm Trail Cowboy Church and loved watching church on TV if he couldn’t attend.

E.L. is survived by two daughters, Kondra Wedel and husband Delmar of Garber, and Sheryl Powell and husband Marvin of Covington; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Baker of Enid; and sister, Shirley Scott of Yukon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorotha; his parents; son, Bill; grandson, Lance; one sister, and two brothers.
