ENID, Okla. —
The graveside service for Harold H. Jantzen, 80-year-old Newton, Kan., resident will be 3 p.m. Friday, May 25, 2013, in the West New Hopedale cemetery under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. The Rev James Suderman will officiate.
Harold was born Oct. 31, 1932, in Bessie, Okla., to Henry K. and Frieda (Froese) Jantzen and died Sunday, May 19, 2013 in Newton, Kan. After graduating high school he attended Grace Bible Intitute and the Bethel College. He then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where he obtained his master’s degree. He then earned a specialist’s degree from Emporia College.
He married Margie Wedel on June 2, 1961. They were founding members of Calvary Mennonite Church. During the first years of their retirement the couple lived in Enid before moving to Newton, Kan., to be nearer family.
He was an ordained minister in Meade, Kan., where he taught and preached. He then taught at Kismet, Kan., for six years before becoming the principal for over 30 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Lois Jantzen of Valley Center, Kan.; and son, David Jantzen and wife Bethany of Wichita, Kan.; four grandchildren, Byron, Michael, Christopher and Samantha.
He was preceded by his wife Margie.
