ELLENSBURG, WA —
Doyle L. Gillaspy passed away Nov. 13, 2012, in Ellensburg, Wash., after a long battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 23, 1941, to Arthur and Virginia Gillaspy.
Doyle served in the United States Navy from 1959-1963.
Doyle was born in Anthony, Kan. He also lived in Wakita and Nash, Okla., and Hawaii, while stationed at Pearl Harbor, and in Eastern Washington.
Doyle moved to Sequim in 1981, and continued his work career at the paper mill in Port Angeles until poor health moved him to Ellensburg in August 2012.
He had many friends and neighbors in Dungeness (Sequim) and he kept in touch with his co-workers from the paper mill.
Doyle was a licensed airplane mechanic and a journeyman welder. His hobbies include traveling, playing guitar and dobro and boating. His passion was flying and working on his airplane, which he restored.
Doyle loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Doyle is survived by three sons, Chet (Ashley), Auburn; Jacob (Melissa), Ellensburg; Lucas (Annie), Sequim; Katherine (Tom) Jugueta, Oak Harbor; and grandchildren, Mattie, Rylee, Daniel, Brody, Leah Gillaspy and Tommy Jugueta.
He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Pheobe Jugueta.
Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Kittitas County or Dungeness Community Church in care of Brookside Funeral Home, 101 E. 2nd Ave., Ellensburg, WA 98926.
A memorial service will be held for family and friends Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Dungeness Community Church.
