EMPORIA, KS — Graveside service for James Thomas Hoffman, 82, of Emporia, Kan., formerly of Ringwood, will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, in Peaceful Cemetery, south of Okeene, with Rev. Jim Edmison officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

James was born Oct. 12, 1930, in Okeene, Okla., to John and Hannah Nusz Hoffman and passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013, in Emporia, Kan.

He grew up on a farm near Ringwood, Okla., and attended school in Ringwood. James entered the U.S. Army and served during WWII. After being discharged from the Army, he came back to the Fairmont community, later moving to Kansas.

James is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Haley of Enid, and Iva Nusz of Yukon, Okla., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Malinda Hoffman; three brothers Leon, John and Billy Hoffman; and sister, Jonnetta Dugger.

James was known for his compassion for animals and loved to fish.

Memorials may be made in his name to Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
