Vera Bernice (Douglas) Maner

STILLWATER, OK — Vera Bernice (Douglas) Maner, 80-years-of-age, of Stillwater, Okla., died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Stillwater Medical Center.

Born to Bessie and Clarence Douglas, she enjoyed her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. They were her joy and her greatest accomplishment in life. She enjoyed her Sundays at Billings 1st Baptist Church and visiting her special kids at the Billings Fairchild Center, where she worked for many years as a floor-medical aide. She also loved being outdoors and riding horseback.

She was predeceased by her husband, C.W.; oldest son, John; son-in-law, Ronnie Procter; parents, Bessie and Clarence; stepfather, Charlie Moore; three brothers, Willie, C.B. and Leslie; and three brothers-in-law, Gene Welch, George Benson and John Murphy.

She is survived by four sisters, Ellen Welch of Quapaw, Okla., Elsie Benson of Broken Arrow, Lucille Murphy of Vinita and Regina Jackson and husband Leroy of Locust Grove; sister-in-law, JoAnne Douglas of Pryor; five children, Jane Odenwald and husband Chris of Billings, Okla., Jean Proctor of Peggs, Okla., Tina Gingrey and husband David of Siloam Springs, Ark.; son, Rick Maner, and daughter, Cheryl Maner of Stillwater; seven grandchildren, Angela Salmon and husband Teddy of Peggs, Jeremy Odenwald and wife Heather of Broken Arrow, Lacey Ayers and husband Corey of Vinita, Randy Proctor and wife Emilie of Locust Grove, Robby Proctor of Peggs, Laura Mackey and husband Chris of Siloam Springs, and Whitney Craft and husband Chris of Elm Springs, Ark.; and 11 great-grandchildren, Luke Salmon of Anthony, Kan., Leea Harvey, Trey and Avenida Salmon of Peggs, Shaylen and Tommy Oliver of Vinita, Fenix and Annie Proctor of Locust Grove, and Alec Pearson, Roxi and Brylee Mackey of Siloam Springs.

She will be missed by many friends and acquaintances.

Funeral service for Vera will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, at Locust Grove First Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest at Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove, Okla., next to her husband and son. Strode Funeral Home, Stillwater, is in charge of arrangements.

    Funeral service for DeLawrence “De” Hamilton will be Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Medford. The Rev. Bob Smith and the Rev. Jonathan Gilliland will officiate. Burial will follow in  Rosemound Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc., of Medford. Memories may be shared with the family at   
     De was born June 2, 1926, in Medford, the son of George Alexander and Myrtle Biby Hamilton. De graduated from Gore High School. He entered the U.S. Navy on July 3, 1944 and was discharged on June 13, 1946. After De returned to Medford, he and Emma Jean Carrier were married on Sept. 29, 1946, in Nash. De worked as a butcher and retired in 1989. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Medford and was ordained as a Deacon in 1951.
