Lindy Clough

ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for Lindy Clough will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel.

Cremation arrangements are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

Lindy was born west of Fairview, Okla., on Feb. 13, 1928, to Anna Clough and the late Harry M. Clough, and passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at his home in Enid.

Lindy graduated from Cleo Springs High School in 1945. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, and was on Kwajalein during the first two atom bomb tests in the Marshall Islands in July 1946.

Then he went to Japan and worked in the communication center at General MacArthur’s headquarters.

Lindy married Naomi Clancy on March 4, 1951, in Cleo Springs. They would have been married 61 years in March of this year, but Naomi passed away in February.

They lived in Kansas 40 years before returning to Enid in 1992. He retired as a facilities engineer from the Boeing Co.

Lindy was a member of Lutheran Church in Mulvane, Kan., a past master of the Mulvane Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Guthrie Valley Scottish Rite.

Lindy is survived by one son, Steven of Wichita, Kan.; one brother, Harry Clough of Yukon; three sisters, Hazel Rehm of Claremore, Pauline Weaver of Fairview, and Aleene Bradshaw of Grand Junction, Colo.; and a host of family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi; two daughters, Rhonda Sue, 7 months, and Debra Lyn, 4 years; his mother; and two brothers, Leonard and Loyal.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Starkey Inc. of  Wichita, Kan., or Dr. Dexeus Oncology.

  • Alfred Lloyd 'Jake' Jacobs

    Alfred Lloyd “Jake” Jacobs was born March 27, 1925, in Alfalfa County, Okla., to Arthur E. and Anna L. Rader Jacobs.  He passed away April 17, 2014, at the age of 89 years and 20 days. Funeral service will be Monday, April 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Kiowa Congregational United Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery.      Jake attended Glendale rural school through the eighth grade and graduated from Kiowa High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 in the 3159th Signal Service Battalion in the Philippines and Japan. Upon returning from the service, he worked with his father at Jacobs Implement Co. On Nov. 24, 1950, he and Norma Jean James were united in marriage at the First Christian Church in Alva, Okla. They were the first couple married in this church. Unto this marriage, three children were born, Lois, Jim and Gary. He worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service from 1953 until his retirement in 1986. He and brother in-law, Alvin Herren, also owned and operated J&R Electric company from 1958 to 1966. He was a member of Cosmos Masonic Lodge No. 278, the VFW, American Legion and Congregational United Church of Christ. His hobbies included radio-controlled airplanes and amateur radio. For many years, he enjoyed being the head set builder for Border Line Theatre. In 2010, he participated in the Honor Flight visiting the WWII memorial in Washington, D.C. He always seemed to have some kind of project he was working on when he wasn’t helping someone else. He was an avid sports fan.

    Larry Gene Highfill, 71, passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2014, at his home in Olympia, Wash. He was born Sept. 13, 1942, in Mooreland, Okla., to Kenneth and Dortha (Berry) Highfill.
    He grew up there and graduated from Mooreland High School in 1960.
    After high school, he attended college at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla., where he received a degree in mechanical engineering.
    Larry was commissioned in 1965, upon completion of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program and served for 24 years in the Air Force.
    He served two tours in Vietnam, flying A-1 Skyraider attack bombers with the 1st Special Operations Squadron, and was the recipient of three Distinguished Flying Crosses for heroism, 11 air medals, a Purple Heart, and numerous other medals and awards.

    Mrs. Pralle was born May 8, 1928, in Kiefer, Okla., to Joseph Fred and Anna Evans Keyes Dose and died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in Dallas, Texas.
    She was raised in Drumright, Okla.
    She received her undergraduate degree in music education from Oklahoma State University and her master’s degree in education from Phillips University. She moved to Garber, Okla., upon her marriage.
    A strong believer in the arts and learning, she dedicated her life to teaching, beginning her career as a band director and music educator.
    After her children entered school, she returned to the classroom, teaching elementary grades and gifted children until her retirement.

    Ray was born June 8, 1974, in Alva, Okla., to Jackie Lee Brown and Valerie Ann Truesdale and passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2014, at his home.
    Ray attended school in Waynoka and moved to Enid in 2002.
    Ray is survived by his mother, Ann Seiger of Enid; father, Jackie Lee Brown of Jay, Okla.; three children, Maliachi Lee, Destiny Ann and Raven Nichol Brown; two brothers, Paul Swartz of Kinsley, Kan., and Hickie Swartz of Austin, Texas; several aunts and uncles and other family members.

    Keith was born Jan. 14, 1919, and was raised on a farm southwest of Pond Creek.
    During the Cherokee Strip Opening of 1892, his grandfather staked a claim after jumping off a train.
    Keith graduated from Pond Creek High School and attended Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa, where he distinguished himself as a member of both boxing teams and became a lifelong boxing fan.
    He married his high school sweetheart, Glorene Faye Reynolds in 1940, and worked in aircraft manufacturing and assembly plants in Wichita and Ponca City.
    He served in Europe during and after WWII. While stationed in Germany, he attended some of the Nuremberg trials.
