ENID, OK —
Clyde E. George, 86, of Enid, OK, was called by God to go to his heavenly home September 18, 2013.
He was born to Clifford H. George and Edna (Bolton) George, September 26, 1926, in Tryon, OK.
He grew up on the farm in Lincoln County, OK, and attended rural schools, graduating from Tyron High School in 1945. He was inducted into the U.S. Navy, July 1945, World War II ended and he received his discharge in August 1946.
He married his high school sweetheart, Doris Beane, June 7, 1946. Later that year they moved to Enid, OK, where they lived for 67 years.
Clyde enjoyed playing in the band and singing in the choir. He was an active member of the Enid First Nazarene Church for 67 years, holding various positions from janitorial duties to board member. He worked each Christmas season helping present “The Living Drive Thru Nativity.”
From 1946 to 1949 he owned his own truck and delivered gasoline to many locations in Oklahoma. He was employed by Union Equity Grain Elevator from 1949 to 1964. The next 28 years he worked as a machinist for George E Failing Drilling.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris; his two children, Linda Manzy and husband Barry of Hot Springs, AR, and Marcus George and wife Charlene of Enid; three grandchildren, Lisa Griffin, Amanda Gobel, and Radona George; five great-grandchildren; brother, Robert George; and sister, Naomi Key.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2013, at First Nazarene Church. The Rev. Bruce Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Tryon Cemetery, Tryon, OK. Visitation with family will be 4-5:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
