ENID, Okla. —
J. Ronald “Ron” Brown was born April 5, 1937, and raised on the family farm in Marshall, Okla., to his sharecropper father, James Harold, and school teacher mother, Dorothy Laura (Pownell) Brown.
In 1955, he graduated from Covington High School.
He worked at Vance Air Force Base for some time, then went on to work for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. His work took him to live in Sapulpa for a time before moving to Madill. After more than 30 years with ODOT, Ron retired in January 1994, and moved back to Marshall.
On Sept. 14, 2013, at the age of 76, he passed away at his home in Marshall.
In Ron’s younger years, he loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting. In his later years, he took joy in wildlife preservation. He also cherished his family very much.
Ron is survived by son, Jeff Brown of Madill, Okla.; daughter, Rhonda Kay Lippert of Reno, Nev.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one half-sister; two brothers, Jerry and Daniel; and very close friend, Velma Stewart.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, David.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, in Lions Club Cemetery North, Marshall, with Pastor Rick Milam officiating. Service is under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
