ENID, OK — Joan Humphrey funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday Feb. 8, 2014, at Nash Christian Church with the Rev. Dean Holt and the Rev. Richard Craven officiating. Interment will follow in New Home Cemetery, Nash. Arrangements by Wilson Funeral Home, Pond Creek.

Joan was born Jan. 4, 1933, to Richard Gregory and Effa Wayman Parks in Chelsea, Okla. She left her home for her heavenly home on Feb. 4, 2014, to be with her Lord and Savior.

She married Delmer Humphrey, her husband of 48 years, on Dec. 7, 1952, in Davis Park Christian Church, Enid, Okla. To this marriage, three children were added: Kim, Carmen and Nita. She and Delmer moved to Long Beach, Calif., while Delmer was in the Navy.

Later moving to Caldwell, Kan., Delmer worked as a dozer operator. In 1957 they moved to Jet, where they farmed and sold eggs and cream to local stores and friends.

Joan served for several years as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone in Enid and Jet. Joan served as Sunday school superintendent, church treasurer and song leader at the Jet Nazarene Church, where she was a member for nearly six decades and until the time of her “home going.”

Joan was also a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association.

One enjoyment in her later years was to make daily calls to friends and family, both near and far, to sing Happy Birthday or Happy Anniversary.

Often people commented on how much they appreciated her faithfulness to remember these occasions. She very much enjoyed visits from her, brothers, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer; parents; brother, Wayne Parks and wife Helen; sister-in-law, Rita Parks, brother-in-law, Alfa Humphrey and wife, Rosa; and brother-in-law, Wilmer Humphrey and wife, Betty.

She is survived by son, Kim Humphrey and wife, Pam, Jet; daughters, Carmen Butts and husband, Greg, Enid; Nita French and husband, Dennie, Norman; brothers, Elam Parks; Brent Parks and wife, Betty; Hal Parks and wife, Carolyn; Rick Parks; Bob and wife, Linda; and John Parks; 10 grandchildren, Kammie Gomes and husband, Dominic; Kendall Hadsell and husband, Bradlee; Kody Humphrey; Kale Butts; Blaine Butts and wife, Lisa; Eric Butts; Kayley Grace, Chayse, Channing, and Chandler French; 4 great- grandchildren Alex, Aden, Addy, and Abbi Hadsell; many cousins, nieces, nephews, a host of friends, and cat, Barbara Ann.
