ENID, OK —
Funeral for Gary “Jim” Johnson, 68, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Temple Baptist Church. The Rev. Kevin Strope will officiate. Burial will follow in Del Norte Cemetery, Drummond, OK, under direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Jim was born August 16, 1945, in Enid to Rufus and Leona Bucholz Johnson and passed away Thursday January 2, 2014, at his home.
Jim attended grade school in North Enid and later went to Kremlin, where he graduated in 1964. He attended and graduated from Enid Business College. Jim joined the U.S. Army November 6, 1968, and served during the Vietnam War. He was discharged November 5, 1974. He started working for American Electric and Thilsted Electric.
He married Sharon Woodbury July 19, 1984.
Jim went work for ESI Electrical Wholesale, which later became Stewart C. Irby, as an outside sales consultant, retiring in October after more than 25 years. He also was co-owner and righthand man at The Gift Box. Jim was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Sharon, spending time with his son, Michael, and going to the horse races and NASCAR races.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon, of the home; son, Michael and wife Rosie Johnson, Enid; nine grandchildren, Steven, Olevia, Bryan, Mazzy, Madilynne, Hayden, Emme, Easton, and Austin, all of Enid; sister, Phyllis Miller, Enid; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leroy and Terry; two sisters Susie Burrell and Shirley Goodman; and father-in-law Roy Woodbury.
Memorials may be made to Temple Baptist Church/Missions and SPCA, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of funds.
