ENID, Okla. — Robert Louis Schlecht Sr., 64, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, in Enid. Robert was born April 23, 1948, in Enid, Okla., to Carl and Wilma Scott Schlecht.

He attended grade school at St. Joseph’s middle school and Waller Junior High and graduated from Enid High School in 1966.

He attended Enid Business College shortly before entering the United States Air Force in 1967. He served one year in Turkey during the Middle East Crisis and was stationed in Mountain Home, Idaho, until 1972.

Moving back to Enid in 1972, Robert worked for Cummins Construction, Champlin Refinery, JM Petroleum, and retired as a mechanic from Penkse Truck & Leasing in 2010.

Robert had a talent for making something out of nothing and always being able to repair just about anything.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Wilma Schlecht, and stepfather, Albert Johnson.

Surviving are wife, Jan of the home; son, Rob Schlecht and wife Tonya of Enid; daughter, Shelly Pennington and husband Patrick of Blackwell; grandchildren, Corey Moorman, Ty Schlecht, Taylor Schlecht, all of Enid; granddaughter, Madalyn Pennington of Blackwell; great-grandson, Bradley Moorman of Enid.
