Lester Leroy Hill

HENNESSEY, OK — Funeral for Lester Leroy Hill, 77, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014, at First Christian Church.

The Rev. Mickey Moery will officiate.

Burial will follow at Hennessey Cemetery under direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home.

Lester was born December 13, 1936, at Hennessey to Wilbur and Juanita Williams Hill and died Wednesday January 8, 2014, at Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Lester graduated from Hennessey High School and served in the U.S. Army.

He married Pearl Cosper in Anniston, Alabama, May 3, 1959.

Lester was a member of Kingfisher County Cattlemen’s Association and served as president in 1988-89.

He also was a member of Kingfisher County Lamb Breeders Association, was active in Hennessey Celebration and was a founding member of Hennessey Rural Fire Department.

Lester also was a lifelong farmer and an FFA State Farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Pearl, of the home; one daughter, Donna Dollins and husband W. E. of Stillwater; two sons, Leon Hill and wife Sonya of Hennessey, Roy Hill and wife Jamie of Enid; one brother, Edward “Cotton” Hill of Lovell; one sister, Mae Choate of Wichita Falls, Texas; six grandchildren, Cara Weaks, Kyle Dollins, Justin Hill, Garrett Dollins, Bailey Hill, Anniston Hill; and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Weaks.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, one infant daughter and one infant sister.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to Hennessey Firefighters Association, with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.

    Funeral service for DeLawrence “De” Hamilton will be Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Medford. The Rev. Bob Smith and the Rev. Jonathan Gilliland will officiate.      De was born June 2, 1926, in Medford, the son of George Alexander and Myrtle Biby Hamilton. De graduated from Gore High School. He entered the U.S. Navy on July 3, 1944 and was discharged on June 13, 1946. After De returned to Medford, he and Emma Jean Carrier were married on Sept. 29, 1946, in Nash. De worked as a butcher and retired in 1989. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Medford and was ordained as a Deacon in 1951.
