Petra retiring on the road

At 10:30 p.m. Saturday the curtains will close on one of the greatest Christian heavy metal bands in history. Enid serves as the last stop in Petra's Farewell Tour of the United States. Petra is retiring after 33 years on the road and in the studio. What makes their Enid appearance even more magnificent is the band's three founding members (John DeGroff, Bill Glover and Greg Hough now known as GHF) also will take the stage to perform with the only remaining original member (Bob Hartman) for the ultimate Petra reunion.

Petra will be joined by several up and coming bands -- Storyside B, FOG, Radial Angel, Rivensoul, Bread of Stone, Mandy Creed and Farewell June. Doors for Mark Price Arena open at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

Three blocks away, for additional listening pleasure prior to the Petra show, Club 180 will host Manic Drive, Bobby Tinsley, Supertropolis and Burning Theory. Doors open at noon.

"I encourage youth groups to come early so you don't miss your favorite artist," said Brian Harp with Sword of Light Productions, which coordinated and is producing the two-part Harvest Music Festival.

Harvest Music Festival is noon to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Club 180, 102 W. Randolph, and 3 to 10:30 p.m. at Mark Price Arena, 125 W. Cherokee. Tickets are $12 in advance (today only) from Ruth's Christian Bookstore, Oakwood Mall, or $18 at the door. Get a preview of Mandy Creed at 1 p.m. and Bobby Tinsley at 3 p.m. Saturday at Hastings, Cleveland and Garriott.
