Hospice Circle of Love honors volunteers
Hospice Circle of Love honored its volunteers last week during National Volunteer Week.
Hospice Circle of Love has 34 volunteers who gave more than 980 hours in 2012.
“Our volunteers are a vital part of our operation. They visit patients, assist with fundraisers and help out in our offices in Enid and Fairview,” said Julie Nelson, volunteer coordinator. “We appreciate them more than they know.”
It is federally mandated under Medicare that 5 percent of all patient care hours from a hospice be provided by trained volunteers. This regulation reflects the vital role volunteers play in the hospice philosophy of care and ensures a hospice program has roots deep in the community, Nelson said. Hospice Circle of Love volunteers doubled that requirement and gave 10 percent of care hours in 2012.
Hospice Circle of Love honored its volunteers with a dinner April 22. Naoma Snow, who is celebrating 30 years of service with the organization, was presented with a quilt signed by former and present Circle of Love staff, volunteers and board members. Also recognized at the banquet, were 15-year volunteers Patrece Allen and Cathy Wiles.
Hospice Circle of Love’s next volunteer training class is scheduled for 1-5 p.m. May 7 and 14 at the Hospice Circle of Love office, 314 S. 3rd in Enid. Anyone who is interested in taking the course can request an application by calling Nelson at 234-2273. More information about hospice care can be found at hospicecircleoflove.com.
Colby presented with awards
Courtney Colby recently was the recipient of the Co-operative Spirit Award and the Platinum Club Award. Both were presented at the RE/MAX Oklahoma Success Celebration, held recently at the Petroleum Club in Oklahoma City. Colby also was recognized as a newly inducted member of the 2012 RE/MAX Hall of Fame.
The Co-operative Spirit Award is presented to the person who best epitomizes the ideal spirit of the office, always is willing to help, laughs easily, and is of general, all-around good cheer. The award is voted on by peers within each RE/MAX office.
The Platinum Club Award represents gross earnings for 2012. This is the third year Colby has earned this award.
Colby began her career in real estate in 2007, joining RE/MAX at that time. Her team members include Tracy Boeckman, Amy Clements, Lori Dick and Amber Slater.
