FYI for 12/7/08

Voss is going door-to-door for local Edward Jones firm

Jake Voss is a new financial adviser for financial services firm Edward Jones, and he is going door-to-door to demonstrate the company’s way of doing business, face-to-face.

“At Edward Jones, we don’t expect anyone to invest with us until they know our investment philosophy,” Voss said. “I believe I have a responsibility to understand the unique financial needs of each and every client, and that’s why I’m paying them personal visits.

“That’s one of the things that drew me to this firm,” he said. “Edward Jones values the individual investor and understands that people still want to do business with someone they know and trust.”

Edward Jones provides financial services for individual investors in the United States and, through affiliates, in Canada and the United Kingdom.

Edward Jones, headquartered in St. Louis, has an interactive Web site at www.edwardjones. com, and a recruiting Web site at www.careers.edwardjones. com.

U.S. Cellular patrons can vote

for a school to get $100,000

U.S. Cellular customers activating or renewing contracts or adding phone lines can vote for the school of their choice to receive $100,000.

“We recognize that funding for education is falling short across the country, and this is an important issue for our customers. We hope this opportunity will empower our communities to rally around our schools and our children,” said Nancy Fratzke, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Oklahoma.

All schools in the U.S., public and private, serving kindergarten through high school, are eligible. Schools receiving the donation will be announced in February, and each school can choose how it will use the money.

Nationwide, U.S. Cellular has donated more than $4 million to not-for-profit organizations serving youth, families and seniors, and associates have volunteered more than 8,000 hours so far in 2008.

Go to uscellular.com/call ingallcommunities for official rules.
