Nelson is Chamber Rookie of the Year for 2005-06



Julie Nelson, marketing coordinator for Hospice Circle of Love was chosen as the greater Enid Chamber of Commerce Rookie of the Year for 2005-06. Nelson was chosen because of her dedication to the Chamber Ambassadors. Her attendance at ribbon cuttings, noon networks, special events and scheduled meetings has been exceptional, according to a spokesperson. She also volunteered to be a team captain for the 2006-07 year.

Nelson is from Eureka, Kan., and attended William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo. She has a degree in communications and public relations. She currently is the marketing coordinator for Hospice Circle of Love.

Being an ambassador for the Chamber allows her to become more involved in the Enid community, meet new people and gives her the opportunity to promote new businesses.

Susie Voelzke named runner-up for state award



Susie Voelzke has been named 2006 Oklahoma Cosmetology Teacher of the Year runner-up. She has been teaching cosmetology students at Enid Beauty College for 16 years.

In the annual award contest, a statewide selection committee selects the most extraordinary cosmetology teacher from a field of teachers representing the 57 private cosmetology schools in the State of Oklahoma.

The award was announced Sept. 17, at the annual Cosmetology School Instructors Seminar held in Tulsa.

She was awarded a plaque and a cash prize from Sally’s Beauty Supply, which sponsored the contest.





Henry names Allen to Real Estate Appraisal Board



Gov. Brad Henry announced the appointment of Kim Allen, of Allen Appraisals of Enid, to a 5-year term on the Oklahoma Real Estate Appraisal Board. This state agency monitors the Oklahoma real estate appraiser’s process to insure the meeting of federal guidelines.

The governor also asked Allen to act as liaison between the board and governor’s office. Allen was elected co-chairman of the Standards and Disciplinary Procedures Committee and vice co-chairman of the Education, Experience and Testing Committee.

Previous service of the board has included seven years on the Standards and Disciplinary Committee and one year on the Education, Experience and Testing Committee for the state board.

An Oklahoma State University graduate, he holds a bachelor’s degree in animal science. Allen is an Oklahoma certified general appraiser and an independent fee appraiser. He is a V.A. fee panel appraiser as well as an FHA appraiser.

Allen received his appraisal license in 1988. His areas of expertise include residential, farms, ranches and commercial real estate, oil and gas damage cases, surface damage cases and condemnation/eminent domain cases.





Schultz is TPI Staffing Employee of the Month

Schultz has worked numerous temporary assignments and has a can-do attitude, according to his supervisor. He does a wonderful job, and has been requested back by client companies.

Carpenean News & Eagle Employee of the Month



Enid News & Eagle chief photographer Andy Carpenean is the September Employee of the Month for the newspaper.

Carpenean has been with the News & Eagle three years, but he has been a professional photographer for more than 10 years.

He is an award-winning photographer, with 11 awards from state and national journalism organizations since joining the News & Eagle staff.

Managing Editor Cindy Allen nominated Carpenean for the award for his dedication and professionalism.

“Andy has done a good job in upgrading and updating our photography equipment and in scheduling and leading our photography staff,” she said.

Carpenean grew up in northwest Ohio, but lived most of his life in Colorado before coming to Oklahoma.

“At 17, my career began as an assistant to a Denver Post staff photographer before studying commercial and fine art photography at the Art Institute of Colorado,” he said.

Carpenean is the youngest of six siblings and enjoys concerts, hiking, road trips and “the great outdoors.”
