Keith E. Oakley will celebrate his 90th birthday with a reception for family and friends Sunday, Sept. 30, at Longdale Community School in Longdale.
He was born Sept. 27, 1922, on a farm north of Helena, the son of Bertha and Ted Oakley.
He graduated from Jet high school in 1942, and attended Tonkawa Junior College, where he played football on a scholarship.
In 1944, he joined the Marines and served in the Pacific Theater.
He married Earlene “Sally” Wymer Aug. 14, 1948.
He was a wheat farmer in Cherokee for nine years before going to work for Zenith Gas Co. in Woodward in 1957. He had worked 10 years for them, when it became Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. He retired in 1986.
In 1994, he and Sally moved their family home from Woodward to its present location on a ranch southwest of Fairview, where he raises cattle.
He has three daughters, Keith Ann of Houston, Kay Dene of Harlingen, Texas, and Kelly Jo of Tulsa, and two grandsons.
