Harold was born Jan. 13, 1924, in Carmen, Okla., the son of Lee and Esther (Galer) Melrose.
He attended Rich Valley Grade School and Carmen schools.
He married Frances Peck on June 8, 1941. They had been married 66 years at her death. He later married Winnie (Krob) Helterbrake Aug. 23, 2009.
He was a self-employed farmer and an active participant in the Helena Church of the Nazarene and Elm Flat Christian Church.
As a child, he was a member of the Carmen 4-H and showed steers.
His children are Joan and Paul Cook, Aline, Okla.; Leroy and Pat Melrose, Oklahoma City; Laura and David Reiswig, Yukon, Okla.; and Mary Beth Gray, Piedmont, Okla. He has nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
