Howard Roy Francis will celebrate his 90th birthday on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013.
He was born Dec. 31, 1923, north of Covington, Okla., the son of Pearl and Thersa Francis.
He graduated from high school in Orlando, Okla., in 1942, and enlisted in the Army after graduation. He was sent to Africa during the World War II campaign. He was hurt after being sent to France/Germany lines and was in the hospital in El Paso, Texas. Following his discharge, he returned to Orlando.
He worked for OTASCO in Perry, then for Halliburton in Perry and Enid. After he retired from Halliburton, he began working for Chapperall, Sissortail and Okie Crude.
