Schroeder, 80
Roland W. Schroeder will celebrate his 80th birthday with a come-and-go reception for family and friends from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Ole San-ta Fe Depot, 202 W. Wal-nut. Cards may be sent to P.O. Box 10071, Enid, OK 73706-0071. He requests no gifts.
He was born April 15, 1928, in Fedor, Texas, to Theodore and Marie Schroeder.
He graduated from Riesel High School in Texas and served with the Navy on Guam. Following his discharge in 1948, he worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone in Texas and transferred to Oklahoma in 1949, retiring after 39 years of service in Oklahoma City, Ardmore and Enid. He is a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
He married Marcella Louise Freeman March 5, 1950, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Breckinridge.
His children are Sharon and Mike Britton and Susan and Pastor Jack Karch, all of Rome, Ga.; Mark of Enid; and Kathie and Kevin Willey of Fairmont. He has seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Wilcox, 90
Mary Helen Wilcox will celebrate her 90th birthday with a reception for family and friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at Burgundy Place, 1600 W. Willow.
She was born April 15, 1918, in Major County.
She married Pete Schroeder in 1935. They had been married 55 years at his death in 1991. They farmed and lived north of Cleo Springs, moving into town in 1952. They were active members of Cleo Springs Nazarene Church. She worked 15 years for the Fairview Fellowship Home as a nurse’s aide and distributor of medicine.
She married Locie Wilcox in 1993 in Fairview, where they lived until his death in 2000. They were active members of Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene. She moved to Enid in 2005.
Her children are Paul and Judy Schroeder, Paola, Kan., Phyllis and Vernon Hood, Pineville, Mo., Wanda and Mark Kiner, Perry; daughters-in-law, Marlene Schroeder, Enid, and Sue Schroeder, Ringwood; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Galer, 95
Madeline Galer, of Helena, will celebrate her 95th birthday with a reception for family and friends at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at Helena Nazarene Church. Cards may be sent to RR 1 Box 8-P2, Helena, OK 73741.
She was born April 7, 1913, in Carmen to John and Florence Lakey.
She married Everett Galer in 1933. They lived and farmed near Carmen for several years before moving to Helena in 1939. They owned the hatchery and produce business for about 15 years and worked several years at the boys training school before retirement. She is a member of Helena Nazarene Church.
Her children are Wilma and Russell Miller, Bartlesville and Wayne and Fran Galer, Enid. She has five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
