The Mass of Christian Burial for Pat Maly, 65-year-old resident, will be 11 a.m. today, April 8, 2008, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Rev. Roberto Quant and Deacon Tony Crispo will officiate. Burial will be in Bison, Oklahoma Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.
Pat was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma on July 15, 1942, to Ralph Warren and Betty Sue (Gold) Bush and passed away Friday, April 4, 2008.
Pat graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1960, and attended Phillips University.
Pat married Bob Maly Oct. 8, 1978, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Enid, OK.
While still in high school she started to work for KGWA radio and for the next 30 years worked for all radio stations in Enid. While at KGWA she started the call in show “Let’s ask a doctor” which was an instant success. During her years in radio she won many broadcasting awards.
For 20 years she was a community producer at PEGASYS hosting such TV shows as “Medicine on Call,” “City Connections,” “See You in Court,” and “Department of Corrections.” In 1993, for hosting the “Medicine on Call” show, she was awarded the Oklahoma State Medical Association “Friend of Medicine Award,” which was presented to her by the Garfield County Medical Society. This prestigious award is given to only one person each year in the state of Oklahoma.
In 1991, Pat went to work for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections as an administrative assistant, retiring in 2003.
Pat was a member of the Greater Enid Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, American Women in Radio and Television, the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, the Garfield County Republican Women, and was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Pat also served in the Enid Parks and Recreation Board, Enid Beautiful Inc., was a certified Domestic Violence Facilitator, and an Oklahoma State Supreme Court Certified Mediator.
Pat is survived by her husband, Bob; two daughters, Kelly Carlson, of San Francisco, California, and Cathleen (Chris) Baker of Salt Lake City, Utah; three grandchildren, Michael Carlson, Mackenzie and Matthew Baker; also one brother, Chris Bush; and two sisters, Doris Langkiet and Sally O’Neil, both of Enid.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the upkeep of the Bison Cemetery or Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen.
