Enid organizations deserve awards of excellence April 12

Three Enid nonprofit organizations have been recognized as being among the best at their business in Oklahoma.

Enid Community Clinic, Denny Price Family YMCA and Youth and Family Services of North Central Oklahoma are among the finalists for Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits’ first-ever Oklahoma Nonprofit Excellence Awards. There are three finalists in each of nine categories, and the Enid organizations all are in different categories.

The next step will come April 12 when the winners in each category are named.

Enid Community Clinic is a finalist in the community health services category, Denny Price Family YMCA is in sports and recreation and Youth and Family Services of North Central Oklahoma is in youth development.

The other categories are arts and humanities, community, education, health services, self-sufficiency and seniors.

This is great news for Enid and the three organizations that are finalists. It’s also a tribute to the people and volunteers who do some much behind the scenes with these organizations.

Each group provides a service and fills a need in our community.

Enid Community Clinic provides health care for people who might not otherwise go to a doctor for help because of financial considerations.

The YMCA helped more than 16,000 in the area last year in many ways, mostly through physical activities, to make them healthier. The Y also is an outstanding organization when it comes to children. There are so many programs geared toward kids.

Youth and Family Services is working now on a major expansion project and annually helps about 1,200 families overcome problems of delinquency, violence and abuse.

All three organizations are filled with high-quality, outstanding people who make the groups what they are.

We hope come April 12 we hear all three have received awards.
